Big deal, right? Sounds just like the claims of every other
piece of so-called "marketing software" on the Internet!

So why is Twitter Ally different?

Because Twitter Ally delivers, and has been specifically designed to be truly set-and-forget. I actually created Twitter Ally for my own personal use, so I wanted it to be the most advanced automated marketing tool I could possibly come up with. See, I prefer to work smart not hard, and like the freedom to work when I want to. And I'm confident I can walk away and let Twitter Ally do all the work for me while I'm gone.

Twitter Ally is fully automated (or should that be "orni-mated"? :-) to effortlessly build a targeted Twitter audience for you. And unlike similar software, you don't even need to be connected to the internet while it runs! Simply define your accounts and searches, and Twitter Ally will work ceaselessly and tirelessly in the background on your behalf building your accounts followers exactly how you like, hour after hour, day after day.

It will check up on your current friendships (regardless of your account size) and vet those you're following that aren't following you back. Then it will continually add the friends you want (from the exact search sources you define) and remove those who don't follow you back after a set number of days (so you can get even more followers.) As anyone with Twitter experience will tell you, the secret to building masses of followers is to follow new people!

Make no mistake, this is very powerful software...

Runs Hands-free on your Website
Unlimited Accounts and Searches
Set and Forget Search and Follow
Bypasses the Limited Twitter API
AutoResuming Processing Loop
Easy and Intuitive User Interface
Auto-Update, Backup and Notify

And what's the best part of all this?

Perhaps the best part of Twitter Ally is the ability to find and add Twitter users automatically from a variety of search sources, allowing you to track down contacts with no effort that would otherwise be hard or tedious to find. Let's face it, with the millions of Twitter users out there, not everyone can be found everywhere, so it's important to be able to find them where they are. Twitter Ally will find them:

Keyword search of Twitter conversations.
Friends or Followers of any Twitter user.
Google keyword search of Twitter pages.
Twellow keyword search of user bios.
Whole Twellow pages category lists.
... and more as Twitter Ally grows ...

Not only that, but with Twitter Ally's innovative MultiSearch feature, you can easily track and cycle through large keyword lists or users for any of these search types. This is especially handy for continually monitoring the Twitter conversation stream for multiple terms in your niche at once - whether of large or small result volume. To do this manually you'd need to monitor them every week (as Twitter only stores a week's search data) - a tedious if not impossible task. But so easy with Twitter Ally!

Great, but how does that convert to site visitors?

It's simple really. When you start following people, a high percentage of them will follow you back (I find about 30-60% depending on your username and profile.) But before you do, you just set up a welcome message using a free service like Tweetlater (or SocialToo.) Twitter users who follow you back will be sent a direct message which can be anything you like!

Simply include a link in your welcome message and statistically a certain percentage of your new followers will click on your link. Of course it depends on your actual message and niche how many do, but this unobtrusive little strategy means you can get targeted visitors to any website in a short period of time with virtually no effort. Twitter Ally also includes an extra feature to send another direct message as a followup after a chosen number of days (in order to prevent abuse Twitter limits the number of direct messages per day, so more than this is pointless.)

But it doesn't stop with this initial traffic. Remember you can write whatever you want to your new followers later! (But obviously it's not a good idea to start spamming people with link after link.) Start a conversation on your topic and you'll generate interest... Post articles on your website or blog and send the links (there are blog plugins that will can this automatically for you)... or send videos, or podcasts... Things that keep your followers coming back to your site.

There's really no shortage of ideas for generating repeat interest and visitors to your website, but they do tend to require free time to put them in place - and that's where Twitter Ally really helps - automatically building your target audience for you! This frees up heaps more of your time to concentrate on being creative and having the conversations you want to have. And that's what Twitter Ally was made for!

What can I promote with Twitter Ally?

Seriously, you can promote just about anything with Twitter Ally! Even a cursory glance at Twitter or Twellow will show you that people on Twitter are there to talk about every subject imaginable, and with Twitter Ally you can track down and contact directly users interested in any niche you can think of. That's the kind of promotion power to rival the most targeted of marketing methods like Pay Per Click and Ezine Solo Ads! In fact, it far surpasses them because you only pay once rather than over and over again. Imagine the difference it would make to your bottom line if you cut your overheads to nothing!

Here are just some ideas and examples you could promote...

Idea Example
Your Own Product or Book Ultimate Astral Experience
Network Marketing Programs Open Source Cashflow
Your Blog or Website I Love Lucid
A Recommendation Site Rapid Forex
Membership Site or Service ListJoe
Cost Per Action Offers UK WSPA
Affiliate Product or Program Twitter Ally

If you'll excuse the shameless self-promotion, the above examples are mostly sites I have been promoting through other means until now, but with the creation of Twitter Ally I now use it almost exclusively. Certainly I don't ignore the need for advertising diversity, but I now consider all other methods as secondary. And apart from the huge benefit of getting a continual flow of free website traffic, the other major advantage is giving me the time to actually work on these sites and develop content rather than spend most of my time on marketing (which to be honest I find pretty boring in comparison to actually creating stuff.)

With endless promotion and account possibilities,
forgive the clich if I say: "The sky's the limit!"

So how do I use Twitter Ally?

First you install Twitter Ally by uploading it to a webserver. This is really easy with the downloadable installer package (full instructions are also given, including where you can get a free fully-featured webhost with 99.9% uptime!) Then you set up an automated task on your webhost (ie. a 'Cron job' - again this is easily done) which runs Twitter Ally periodically throughout the day. The whole process might take half an hour to an hour for the inexperienced.

Once installed, you login to the easy and intuitive Twitter Ally interface, enter your Twitter account(s) information and then define the custom searches you wish to use for each account. The interface gives you at-a-glance information that you can update any time with the click of a button, for example adding new keywords as you come up with them. Twitter Ally then runs in the background and emails you reports of it's activities on a regular basis.

What makes Twitter Ally the best?

Well firstly I would definitely say the way it works makes it an easy choice over similar programs. But there's also the pricing. Twitter Ally's nearest competitor Hummingbird, is $197 ! Well that's fine if you've got it, but it's not exactly ground entry pricing for the beginning entrepreneur. (I suppose there's always TweetTornado at a whopping $150/month if you have money to burn.) It contrast to this Twitter Ally was designed to keep running costs to a bare minimum. But there are plenty of other reasons why it's the best...

Twitter Ally is a Web-based Script
Because it runs entirely in the background on a superfast webservers, Twitter Ally will not slow down your web browsing or chew up your data usage like other adders. (If you have a number of accounts you would be surpised to find out how much this can be, especially if you're bypassing the API, and for anyone without unlimited data and fast download speed this can make a HUGE difference.) Actually, you don't even have to be there or leave your computer on... Heck, you don't even need a computer to run this thing - only access to one to set it up!

Queue Unlimited Twitter Accounts
Sure, other adders may support unlimited accounts, but you still have to run them one at a time, wait until they're finished, then run them again for the next account. Twitter Ally forgoes all that and queues all your account processing automatically for you. This saves you soooo much time because it means no waiting around or continually checking your accounts to see what you need to do next.

Queue Unlimited Pre-defined Searches
Again, with most adders you can only do one search per one account at a time. But with Twitter Ally, once you define a search it will be queued and run day after day without any further effort, freeing up time for other things... like actually writing Tweeps! You can set it up to search for keyword terms, friends or followers of specific users, or even search third party sites listing Twitter users by category. Plus, you can also prioritize these searches so that you'll get the maximum targeted results from each search.

Unique AutoResuming Processing
Twitter Ally keeps track of exactly where it is up to in the account processing loop so that each time it runs it picks up where it left off. This allows it to spread out its requests throughout the day to maximise processing capacity without sending server-overloading requests runs, and compensates for page retrieval errors which can happen at times when say Twitter or another search site is experiencing a high volume of traffic.

Twitter API Bypass and Fallback
Twitter Ally bypasses the Twitter API request interface (which limits the number of requests you can make per hour.) This allows Twitter Ally to process many more requests than programs that rely on the API. It also allows you to run any other applications that need to use the Twitter API without affecting them. Plus, if for some reason it's required, Twitter Ally will fallback to using the API, making it more stable than programs that can't.

Surpasses other Network Adders
In case you were wondering, this works far better than using Myspace or Facebook 'friend adders' (which I've also tested extensively.) Besides the fact that you can contact far more people in a shorter amount of time, Twitter is a far more direct because it's all about messaging, and welcome messages are far more common and unobtrusive so they aren't considered spam (of course again it's a bad idea to keep resending the same links over and over again - that would be considered spamming.) And unlike other social networks, you don't have to worry about entering those annoying Captcha codes all the time!

What exactly does Twitter Ally do?

While the idea of Twitter Ally is fairly simple - to gain new followers - the actual implementation of this idea is quite complex and has taken me months of programming to make it truly workable. Certainly there are plenty of free scripts out there that will perform simple functions such as updating your Twitter status or sending direct messages, but there are only few commercial solutions for actually building up your Twitter followers in a viable way, and Twitter Ally has been designed to be the best of them of all, providing both flexibility and reliability.
Account Vetting Process
Like the popular online tool Twitter Karma, Twitter Ally will search through your existing friendships and stop following those who haven't followed you back. This initial process is necessary to allow you to maximize the number of new users you can follow each day without reaching the Twitter follow limits too soon.

Unlike Twitter Karma however, Twitter Ally performs and records a stage by stage analysis which means it will work for any account size. (If you've tried to use Twitter Karma you'll know it 'freezes' when your account is around 10000 followers. Either the data is too much for it or it uses up all your Twitter API requests.) This kind of vetting is often needed especially for large accounts, but luckily with Twitter Ally it's really only needed once per account (and not for new accounts) to 'clear the slate' for the regular optimal following and unfollowing process...

Optimal Following Process
Twitter Ally will search out an unlimited number of keyword terms for any of the search types (or friends/followers of another account) that you specify for an unlimited number of accounts and follow the maximum per day (unless a cap is specified.) By running throughout the day and looping through each account, you can add more users than you would say in a single instance because as more people follow you back this increases the amount of people you can follow.

Twitter Ally's innovative MultiSearch function also allows for monitoring and adding from large keyword term lists by cycling through search terms while still keeping a record of found and added users and previously searched pages. This helps you to find targeted users from a wide variety of sources and keywords at once. You can even loop through these search terms cyclically, consecutively or randomly.

Optimal Unfollowing Process
Twitter Ally keeps a record of all the newly followed users you've added, and later will unfollow them if they don't follow you back within a specified time period (default 3 days.) This feature allows you to build unlimited targeted accounts in the shortest time period while still allowing those you follow time to follow you back. (Without this feature you are limited to either removing users every day OR waiting for longer periods to allow users to follow you back. Neither is an optimum solution.) These removed users won't be added again in your searches, preventing you from being seen as a spammer seeking attention (as users are notified by email when you follow them.)

Extra Feature Processes
In addition to the optimal following and unfollowing processes, Twitter Ally includes some extra features. Firstly, the ability to define an extra followup message that is sent to new followbacks after a chosen number of days (sent when there is an available direct message quota) means extra traffic to your sites. You can also define VIPs that are never removed from your accounts. Twitter Ally sends notifications of account processing and data backups on the basis you specify (eg. daily), auto-updates to the latest version, and provides detailed statistics on your account and search pages to give an at-a-glance activity summary that helps you better to refine your searches.

More Frequently Asked Questions..?

Q: Do you have plans for improvements to Twitter Ally?

A: Certainly, there a number of new ideas that will be incorporated into Twitter Ally as time goes on. New searches especially will be created utilizing other third party Twitter search engines and user listings such as Twellow. Additional messaging features may also be added, and bug fixes will also need to be made as new features included. All feature updates are automatically installed as available once you have Twitter Ally up and running.

Q: Do I need a website to run Twitter Ally?

A: While you will need webhosting to host and run Twitter Ally, do note this does not mean you need to create a website if you don't have one. If you don't have your own webhost yet that's really no problem at all. (at least not for you :-) You can get a free fully featured webhost for Twitter Ally with 99.9% uptime here.

Q: What's required to run Twitter Ally?

1. About an hour of your time ordering and installing the script and familiarizing yourself with the interface, and time spent setting up some your Twitter accounts and searches.
2. A Webhost with support for PHP5 scripts, Curl extension and Cronjobs.
(PHP is the scripting language, Curl is a PHP extension that allows for page submission and retrieval, and Cron is for setting up automated task of running the program throughout the day.) These are all pretty standard server features now though you may need to check with your webhost if you're unsure or if they aren't in it's feature list. A free webhost with all these features is available here.
3. Optional. Because Twitter Ally requires the Secure Socket Layer transport protocol for login emulation, while you don't need OpenSSL installed to run Twitter Ally, if you want to be able to bypass the Twitter API without using our login proxy server you will need a server with OpenSSL installed. If this is important to you, you can contact your webhost and ask them if they have OpenSSL installed and active for your account. You can also run <?php phpinfo() ?> in a PHP file on your site and see if OpenSSL appears in the list.

Q: Are there any disadvantages to Twitter Ally?

A: The only thing I can think of is that because it is a script, for newbies the installation is not as easy as just installing a program on your computer. It is still easy, you're just installing on a remote computer, it's just if you've never done it before you may be uncertain about it. For this reason both fully detailed written and video installation intructions are provided.

Q: Does using Twitter Ally constitute SPAM?

A: No. Certainly this is a major concern for many people, and that is why Twitter Ally is specifically designed to build up your followers within the outlined Twitter terms of service. Everyone is allowed to build up a targeted account on the topics they're interested in - that's part of what Twitter is all about. To take an apt analogy, your email provider does not cancel or suspend your account because you have a large address book! In other words, it is how you use your account to send messages that defines whether you are spamming or not. To my knowledge no one's account has been suspended for using Twitter Ally. The following issues are of note in regard to spam:
1. Twitter Ally is not a messaging bot. So it can't be used to send or resend messages to people over and over. I do recommend you set up a welcome message using a third party service, but this is a commonplace occurrence with Twitter and not spam. If you do this right you will get some traffic from this unobtrusive introduction, but using your account responsibly after this is up to you. Twitter Ally can also send a single addition followup message to users added with it, but direct messages are limited by Twitter anyway to avoid Spam.
2. Twitter Ally keeps a record of all the users you've followed and unfollowed. This is important because if you were to follow and unfollow the same users repeatedly, this would send repeat email notifications to users that you are following them and may be considered spam by 'garnering attention'.
3. Twitter Ally consistently follow users throughout the day, but it also only unfollows users who haven't followed you back within a set number of days, avoiding the 'aggressive follower churn' that would come if you just removed people without waiting to see who followed you back. (For this reason it isn't recommended to set this to only one day.)
